Your Voice Matters (YVM21)
The big day is here! Entries are closed for the Your Voice Matters Giveaway and one lucky person will win their choice of a Kindle Fire or Nook Tablet! Second place winners will receive an ebook copy of The Mother-Earth Series Omnibus. That’s all three books of the Mother-Earth series wrapped up in one ebook!
Entries are being verified and emails to the winners are going out now, so check your inbox to see if you’ve won! Winners will be posted here once they’ve been confirmed. I want to thank everyone who participated in this big experiment, as well as all those folks who spread the word. Ideas and projects are in the works to make this a regular thing and I hope we can make that happen. The ability to read and write are fundamental to success in this world and it’s imperative that everyone, child and adult alike, are given the opportunity to develop these vital skills. Your voice matters in making that happen!
And the winner is…
Jasmine Rose!
She has chosen the Nook Tablet and here is what she had to say upon finding out she’d won:
Don’t be afraid to let your voice be heard!
Good things can happen when and where you least expect them ;]
Jasmine runs a great book review blog, called A Room With Books, focused on YA books! Here is a link to the review that won her the big prize: http://aroomwithbooks.blogspot.com/2012/04/still-waters-by-emma-carlson-berne.html
Congratulations to Jasmine and all the second place winners as well! Thank you all once again for your support and enthusiasm for this project. Keep reading!
Fun Video Friday #39
Robin Williams is one of my favorite comedian/actors ever. His ability to be intelligent and completely goofy at the same time is amazing. I stumbled across this clip that he and his daughter did for the anniversary of Zelda and fell in love! Robin and Zelda appear to have an amazing relationship. Seeing them laughing together over a video game brought a smile to my face, and I hope one to yours as well.
Your Voice Matters Giveaway Update
We’re down to the wire folks! This weekend will be your last chance to get your entries in to win either a Kindle Fire or Nook Tablet! Get out there and make your voice matter. And maybe win a cool prize along the way!
Fun Video Friday #38
Baseball season is underway and last week’s installment reminded me of this all-time classic. Pure, timeless comedy.
Your Voice Matters (YVM19)
In this TEDxTeen video, Kristen Powers asks a question we often ask ourselves, or friends, when we’re in a casual setting and philosophizing: What would you do if you had X amount of time to live? “X” being commonly a small number for the sake of the question, but, as Kristen wonders, why are our answers different based on the size of that number?
Urgency can be an important motivator in the “Power of not knowing.” Kristen made a conscious decision a few years ago to make her voice matter in the world. What could you accomplish if you made a similar decision? The importance of the “InnerKid” in all of us is that ability to think beyond what is generally considered possible, and embrace the impossible. When we reach for those impossibilities, we often do some extraordinary things along the way. And sometimes, people even wind up reaching that “impossible” goal or dream…
